"Dr.Stone"
"Dr.Stone"(Japanese; "Dokutā Sutōn")
"Dr. Stone" which was released last year quickly became quite popular and so I was eager to find out whether it lived up to the hype that surrounded it. And well after watching it I can tell you that "Dr. Stone" is one of the best anime of its kind. What makes this anime so unique and interesting, is the fact that it's plot is based on actual scientific principals. Everything described in the anime is actual scientific fact(well most of it anyway),and this gives a rather intriguing feel to the anime.
The plot
The story begins in 5738 A.D . ,over 3000 years since the entirety of the human species had been petrified by a blinding light that enveloped the whole Earth. The plot follows a 16- year old boy genius named Senkū Ishigami, who is suddenly revived from the petrification. Senkū, being the resourceful genius that he is, immediately sets up a base camp and embarks on a journey to free mankind from the petrification.
As Senkū embarks on his quest to find a cure for mankind's petrification, he realises that it was actually with the help of Nitric acid that he had been freed from the petrification. Armed with this new knowledge, he creates a compound that could free people from the petrification. Senkū uses the compound to free his classmates Taiju and Yuziriha. He also uses the compound to free a martial artist named Tsukasa, only to realize that the two of them don't see eye to eye on how the compound should be used to free mankind.
What follows from there is an epic battle between, well "brains and brawn", with senkū and his "kingdom of science"on one side and Tsukasa's clan on the other.
The characters
The characters in "Dr.Stone"are designed in a quirky and intriguing manner, which seems to appeal to a great number of people. The art style and animation of this anime is on of its key selling points in my opinion. The animation especially has been executed brilliantly and exceeded my expectations. Along with the quirky artstyle, throw in some quirky characters, some amazing science and well, you've gotten yourself a winning formula.
Overview
"Dr.Stone"is a great anime that definitely lives upto the hype created around it. What impressed me most was the accuracy of the science described in it and the explanations theat followed. The anime described the making of everything from gunpowder to glass with ammazing accuracy, which shows that the authors had put in a great effort to research everything, which I greatly appreciate. And of course add in the great animation and a killer opening track like "good morning world" and you've got an anime that is not only interesting and informative but also pleasing to watch. So to cap things up, "Dr.Stone" was one the best anime that I watched last year and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone including you. So please enjoy and thanks for reading.
